“Everything is a highlight!”

Isabel Gerwig is a young yet long-standing employee at General Industries and has made it all the way to a member of the management team in 10 years. In 2014, she joined General-Industries Deutschland GmbH (GID) as a member of the administration and sales team. From the very beginning, Isabel was able to watch the company grow steadily and made a major contribution herself. In the beginning, the young, learned forwarding agent from Acquisition, Sales, Distribution and Forwarding was “a girl for everything.” When the subsidiary General Industries Polymere was founded in 2017, it was able to expand its capabilities further in the direction of plastics trading.

“You’re not just doing a job, it’s in your hands”

There would always be plenty to do and think about. However, she particularly appreciates the development opportunities she has been given over the last few years, as well as the trust placed in her by the management and the family atmosphere throughout the company. Her proximity to plastic products and years of working in the recycling trade have made her even more aware of the social relevance of the recycling issue: What is waste and what is recyclable plastic that can be put to good use goes beyond domestic waste separation.

“You’re not just doing a job, you have it in your hands” – she lifts a glass with a signal blue regrind, “and you can see exactly whether it’s PP or ABS and check whether the quality is right.”

“Don’t stay on the spot”

 

She answers with determination and enthusiasm what she would like to focus on most in the future as a member of the Executive Board: “I don’t want to stay in one place and I want to continue to drive the company forward.” The issues surrounding recycling will also become increasingly relevant in the future – not only socially, but also legally. Isabel Gerwig would like General Industries Polymere GmbH to set a good example in meeting these challenges.
