Abdullah Noori

“I know almost all the materials”

Abdullah has been with General Industries Polymere for almost four years. He applied to the office in the winter of 2020; the native Afghan had come to Germany four years ago. It seems like a small anniversary that he is now being interviewed as a proud shift supervisor.
“I now know all the materials, every single one, whether PP HDP, ABS, PPTV….,” he begins to enumerate. He also obtained his forklift license at GIP. He operates both mill grinders regularly and knows how to grind the plastics so that the end result is a flawless regrind.

He has been shift leader for about four months now and is responsible for ensuring that the early and late shifts run smoothly. “I’ve already got to know everything, so I show the employees what they need to prepare and do.” As Abdullah Noori speaks several languages and the production team is also international, we ask which language he uses to communicate with them.

“German,” was the clear answer, but from time to time his knowledge of Turkish and Afghan also helped him to overcome language barriers when getting to grips with the job.
He particularly appreciates the working atmosphere: “I get on well with my nice colleagues and the plant manager.”
